The Tea House That Came From Heaven: How My Most Challenging Moment Sparked a Beautiful New Chapter

Sometimes, the most beautiful ideas are born from the hardest moments.

I’ve been holding something close to my heart—a story I’ve waited to share until the timing felt just right. On July 7, I’ll finally be able to tell you about one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done. It completely changed my life. It cracked me open, and from that space, a message so loud, so undeniable, came to me—from heaven.

Many people don’t know this about me, but my father was never really part of my life. Still, he passed down a gift—his creative talent—which I carry with me every day in everything I do. On the third visit I had with him before he passed, he gave me a secret. It was simple, but powerful. I’ll share the full story and exactly what he told me in my announcement on July 7.

After facing that life-altering challenge, I felt his energy more than ever. I received this clear, almost divine message: “Open a tea house.”
Not just any tea house—a greenhouse filled with life, where people could gather, drink a spot of tea, laugh, celebrate, and feel at home in a setting surrounded by nature and beauty.

The idea was so loud in my mind, I couldn’t squash it. I told my agent, Dan Levin, about this wild dream, and without hesitation, he said, “Why don’t you start it inside your flower shop?”

So I did.
And magic happened.

I started getting booked out with private tea parties. I did full buyouts for celebrations and showers. I landed on the cover of Palos Verdes Magazine with a beautiful full feature. NBC’s Lisa Breckenridge even came to film a live segment at my flower shop. The word spread quickly.

Before I knew it, people were calling to book parties of 50 or even 100 people. I knew I would outgrow my space—I could only seat 25 people at one time. I could feel the expansion coming like a wave.

That’s when the greenhouse dream started to burn brighter.

I called an old friend to share the story. His eyes lit up. We shook hands. And just like that, it began to move quickly.

I walked the greenhouse property just a few months ago, and we’ve been moving plants by the hundreds ever since.
When it opens, we’ll be able to seat around 60 people with space for larger workshops, evening events, and unforgettable gatherings.

This new space in Torrance, California, will be a place to slow down, sip tea, design flowers, enjoy beautiful food, and connect in an inspiring environment. I can’t wait to show you the journey. It won’t be pretty in the beginning—it’s a lot of dirt, sweat, and heavy lifting—but wait until you see the transformation. You’ll be blown away.

At the heart of it all is my mission:
To make people feel amazing through what I do.

I love entertaining. I love hosting. I love making people feel good through flowers, plants, and shared experiences.

That’s why I’ve also launched a new division: Landscaping.
Because to me, it’s all connected. It’s all about plant energy. It’s all about flower energy. It’s all about creating spaces that heal, uplift, and inspire.

So stay with me.
The journey is just beginning.
The story—my story—continues to bloom.

More soon,
Jenny Barker, The Flower Doctor
