Today is a very special day. As the sun sets this evening, we welcome Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, and the beginning of a beautiful time for reflection, renewal, gratitude and new beginnings.

In observance of the holiday, Magical Blooms will be closing early today, Friday, September 11, and we will be CLOSED tomorrow, Saturday, September 12.

If you need flowers for your Rosh Hashanah table, Shabbat dinner or to bring as a gift to someone’s home, please order early so we can take care of you before we close.

A Sweet New Year

Rosh Hashanah is filled with beautiful symbolism. We gather around the table with foods that represent our hopes and intentions for the year ahead.

Apples dipped in honey remind us to wish for a sweet year.

Pomegranates symbolize abundance and a year filled with blessings.

Round challah represents the continuous cycle of life and the year coming full circle.

And, of course, I believe flowers belong on the table too.

Flowers bring life, energy, beauty and intention into a room. For me, arranging flowers for the Jewish New Year is another way of saying: May this home be filled with beauty. May this family be blessed. May we grow, bloom and begin again.

Bring Flowers When You’re Invited

If you are going to someone’s home for Rosh Hashanah dinner, flowers make a meaningful hostess gift. Bring an arrangement already designed in a vase so your host doesn’t have to stop preparing dinner to find a vase and arrange the flowers.

You can also send the flowers ahead of time with a simple message:

“Wishing you and your family a sweet, healthy and beautiful New Year. Shanah Tovah!”
