Pops of Color in San Francisco: A Wedding Styled with Florals

Last weekend, I had the honor of being both a guest and the floral stylist for a wedding in San Francisco that was close to my heart. My dear friend Robin Felix from Felix Design Studios celebrated her daughter Schaeffer’s marriage to Nick, and she trusted me with the joy of styling her day with flowers. Designing for friends is always a special kind of magic—it’s deeply personal, and every bloom carries intention.

The Palette: Bold Meets Cool

The wedding embraced a punchy palette of color—from deep ruby reds and wine tones to playful pops of coral, hot pink, and fuchsia, all softened with blush pinks and cool undertones of lavender. Against the industrial green of the warehouse venue and the glowing Golden Gate views, the colors felt both energizing and sophisticated. It was a blend that brought vibrancy without overpowering the space.

The Florals: Textures & Layers

Each arrangement was layered with flowers that told their own story:
 • Anthuriums in coral and pink brought a sculptural, modern edge.
 • Orchids offered elegance and luxury with their graceful lines.
 • Dahlias and scabiosa added seasonal depth, bringing richness and texture.
 • Roses in blush, crimson, and berry tones anchored the palette with timeless romance.
 • Delicate touches of sweet peas and ranunculus gave softness and airiness.

The variety of blooms created a living canvas that was both refined and playful.

Art Styling the Space

The warehouse venue itself was a dream to style. Its industrial structure and sage green tones allowed the flowers to shine as bursts of energy. Long banquet tables were dressed with clusters of varying arrangements, each one different but connected—some tall and sculptural, others low and lush, creating movement throughout the room.

The mix of textural greenery, vibrant flowers, and elegant candlelight gave the entire setting an art installation feel rather than a uniform design. It was flowers in conversation with the architecture—romance meeting raw edges, beauty meeting strength.

The Energy of the Celebration

This wedding radiated joy. The bold colors reflected the energy of Schaeffer and Nick’s love story—modern, fearless, and full of life. Guests sat surrounded by artfully styled blooms that didn’t just decorate the space, but transformed it into a vibrant expression of love.

Traveling Florals with Heart

Being asked to design for dear friends is always an honor. And being able to travel, bringing floral artistry to any location, is something I hold close to my heart. Weddings like this remind me why I love what I do: flowers have the power to change the energy of a space, tell a story, and make a day unforgettable.

If you’re dreaming of flowers that reflect your story—whether in San Francisco, Los Angeles, or anywhere in the world—I’d love to create that magic for you.

With love and flowers,
Jenny Barker – The Flower Doctor
