There is something incredibly romantic happening in weddings right now: lace is back in a big way.

I’m seeing lace layered everywhere, from gowns and veils to chairs, tables, linens, bouquets, ceremony details, and even the flowers themselves. It brings this beautiful Victorian feeling into a wedding while still looking fresh, fashionable, and timeless.

And one of my favorite ways to use this trend is actually adding lace directly to the floral design.

Lace on Flowers

Imagine a beautiful sculptural anthurium or calla lily delicately wrapped, accented, or layered with lace. You have the clean, modern shape of the flower against the intricate detail of the lace. It’s unexpected and incredibly romantic.

Calla lilies especially have such an elegant silhouette that adding lace can transform them into something that almost feels like part of a Victorian wedding gown.

Anthuriums bring a completely different energy. Their bold, contemporary shape mixed with vintage lace creates that wonderful contrast between old-world romance and modern floral design.

It’s a throwback, but with an edge.

Lace Everywhere

We’re also seeing lace move far beyond the wedding dress.

Think lace draped over ceremony chairs, vintage lace tablecloths, layered runners, lace bows, lace-covered cocktail tables, lace details on napkins and menus, trailing lace from bouquets, and beautiful pieces incorporated into ceremony installations.

You can even layer different lace patterns throughout the wedding so it feels collected over generations rather than purchased as one matching set.

That is where the Victorian influence really comes alive.

Victorian, But Reinvented

What I love about this look is that it doesn’t have to feel like a costume or a themed wedding.

Pair vintage-inspired lace with masses of fresh flowers, candlelight, beautiful glassware, trailing greenery, calla lilies, anthuriums, garden roses, orchids, or other unexpected blooms.

The lace brings history.

The flowers bring life.

Together, they create something romantic, dramatic, feminine, and timeless.

After more than 30 years of designing weddings, I love watching old ideas return in completely new ways. Trends always have a way of blooming again.

And right now, lace is having its moment.
